Jens Gehlhaar is a household name among the design elite for his work at Brand New School, a multimedia studio in Los Angeles. Named after the designer’s astrological sign, his Capricorn is a compact, modern sans serif many years in the making. Like a good pop song, Capricorn feels appealingly familiar, yet it’s entirely new and inventive. Three weights are available, each with italics and text (OSF) and lining figures. |

A rounded grotesk typeface influenced by template lettering and children’s simplistic handwriting. Two versions of all weights: one for text use, and one slightly more ornamental. |

The complete Ikiru family is derived from a single style, Ikiru Sans Thin, making for a very constructed appearance that is in step with today’s unapologetically mechanical aesthetic. Despite feeling machine-made, the letterforms were carefully hand crafted by Gestalten regular Boris Dworschak and works as well in text paragraphs as it does in giant headlines. |

Developed from a grid and unadorned with frippery, Basic is aptly named. The rounded edges soften the strict forms and recall engraving templates and architectural stencils from the ’70s, but unique touches like the ‘g’, ‘k’, and ‘y’ plant it firmly in the now. |
